The Community project of the Fontaine Archive is an experiment on creating an interactive and useful digital archive. We want to know how many people in this world might be interested in and be affected by letters, photographs or other material in the archive. There is new material in here, never seen before, regarding German Expressionist and Bauhaus artists,regarding art collecting in post-war Germany, how the US armed forces had an affect on the cultural community. There is new material here that shines a light on life in an ivy league art school. Probably any number of other theses can be conjured up from this material as well. You tell us what is interesting. You tell us what you need information on. It’s not just about Paul and Virginia Fontaine, it’s about the entire community helping countries recover their cultural identities after terrible destruction.
